How to save cantaloupe seeds
Here's how I get my own cheap seed from cantaloupe we buy at the grocery store.Seeing I can't do any outdoor gardening I decided to do some experimenting with these seeds I saved. This is part one of three..will post the second and third part (germinating and planting) shortly
This is the piece of cantaloupe I'm taking the seeds from
Here I have the seeds and some pieces of fruit..next step they must be cleaned
The seeds have been cleaned through a strainer
Here I'm testing them to see which ones will sink and which ones will float
I skimmed off the ones that floated
Here are my finished seeds..I'll let them dry before storing

How to Build an Inexpensive Hoop-Style Greenhouse
http://www.albertahomegardening.com/how-to-build-an-inexpensive-hoop-style-greenhouse/
One of the most valuable assets in my garden is my greenhouse. It has allowed me to grow plants that I normally would not be able to grow, produce crops that the season is not usually long enough to produce, and protect my plants from frosts, hail, or other severe weather that normally would have destroyed my garden.

Big turnips for winter
We are quite pleased with our turnip this year. They all grew to a nice size and the ones we've eaten were very tasty....
Here are the jumbo turnips...weighing 8lbs each
I thought this one looked strange.
This was the only bad one in the bunch

Last Tomatoes Of The Season
These are the last of my tomatoes ,they'll be taken inside to ripen.
They did ripen inside, some were left on the vine and some were put in brown paper bags.Problem is we have most of them eaten before I thought to a snap. We're always eating stuff around here!

Growing Veggies in Kelp
Kelp has many uses in the nl kitchen garden. In fact pictured below is a raised bed made of all kelp/sea weed. As you can see these cabbages are growing vigorously in the kelp. I'm adding to this bed a few buckets at a time for next years growing
