My homemade slug traps
Here's how I make my slug traps.Get a 1 lb. butter tub and put 4- 1/2 holes close to the top,I used the yellow painted part as a guide.
Slugs will go for almost anything, soda, beer, sugar water,I was told by a twitter friend that soapy water works too so I'm going to that give a try later on .
Here's a slug trap placed in my pumpkin patch.Keep the holes above the soil and place some weight on the cover because we don't any drunken squirrels on the rampage ha ha.

Blowing in the wind
Here's how to tell the wind direction in my kitchen garden.I'm always looking for ways to make my own tools using recycled materials.A case in point, this wind direction indicator was made an old cd,a strip of wood and a roller from an old office chair. It's been up there for a couple of years in very high winds and still works great.
My trusty conpass
Just another windy day in the kitchen garden
More pumpkin pictures
Took these pics this morning, the rain has stopped and the sun is shining of and on.The first 3 pics are my biggest pumpkin, over 36 inches now.But alas it's rolling down the mound and twisting the vine, that's why I have the sticks against it to prop it up,I have to get on this right away and fix it.Also with all this wet weather we've had the slugs have made their appearance, more on that later.
Here's my other pumpkin of any size, about 10 inches x 6-7 inches. This one as some yellow bumps on it.
